Motorcyclist Collides With Wall & Pole

Around 5:20am on Thursday, May 9th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle motorcycle collision on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Middle Road, in the vicinity of Barnes Corner.

“It appears that the motorcycle was being ridden along South Road when the rider, a 24 year old Sandys parish man, collided with a wall and a pole,” a police spokesperson said.

“He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injuries and later discharged. The motorcycle received extensive front end damage.”

    I was in the area and saw some of the aftermath from a distance. Didn’t occur to me snap a photo or video for Bernews. It looked as if there were two of the Southampton Fire Station vehicles there before the hospital ambulance arrived. I actually saw one of them leave the station.

    Not much of an eye-witness report, I’m afraid.
