Photos: Skateboarders Hold “Gr8 to Sk8″ Event
The Bermuda Urban Parks Association [BUPA], in conjunction with the Corporation of Hamilton put on “Gr8 to Sk8″ today [June 22], a skateboard promotional event held at the #5 car park on Front Street in Hamilton.
Skate Bermuda said they are also also officially launching its awareness and fundraising drive to bring Bermudian youth a permanent concrete BMX & Skatepark, complete with rails, stairs, pyramids, ramps and a bowl to Bermuda’s youth and adults alike.
Between 20 and 30 young people at a time took advantage of the ramps and rails that Darren Booth of the Booth store had set up in the car park.
It is really fabulous – but get a helmet already!!!! Major skating corportations in the US won’t allow their youngsters to skate without helmets – and neither should we – we should be promoting good practice!
I agree with you on that one, Head gear should. Be worn, and also knee and elbow pads as well.
Great event and two thumbs up to the organizers and C.O.H. but please make these youngsters wear helmets before one of them gets seriously hurt. Safety, safety, safety!!!
Positive vibes for the youth! A must have event again!
#Gabbs I agree! All safety equipment is a requirement to register! Nice event for the guys who skate around Hamilton looking for an event just like this.
Congratulations Steven Camara. Uncle and I are so proud of you.
