The Bermuda Weather Service said that Chantal’s closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs is forecast to be 737 nautical miles to the south west at 6am on Friday [July 12].

Chantal is, however, expected to affect other islands with the U.S. National Hurricane Center saying that a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico and parts of the Dominican Republic.

In addition, a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for St. Vincent, U.S. Virgin Islands, Haiti, Turks & Caicos and the Southeastern Bahamas.
