Video: Bermuda Win Both 200m Sprint Golds
Bermuda’s sprinters excelled on the track last night [July 18], winning both the men’s and women’s 200m, setting one new record and claiming the bronze in the women’s 200m.
Tre Houston won the gold medal in the 200m finals, setting a new Island Games record of 21.05, breaking his own record set in the heats this morning. This repeats what he did in the 100m, where he also set a new record in the heats, and came back to set a new record in the finals.
Bermuda’s female sprinters also excelled, with Shianne Smith winning gold in the women’s 200m in a time of 24.87, and Natasha Trott taking the bronze in a time of 25.71.
Today [July 19] is the final day of competition, with the athletics concluding with the relays and half marathon this evening. Bermuda will contest the male and female 4×100 as well as the 4×400.
Bermuda runners scheduled to compete in the relays include Tre Houston, Kidane Callender, Jaret Simmons, Jasmine Brunson, Kerri Furbert, Shianne Smith, Natasha Trott, Dage Minors, Juma Mouchette, Darico Clarke, Ashley Berry, Kyrah Scraders and Tamika Williams.

Congratulations to all the athletes who participated the NatWest Island Games!! Of course I have to give special Congrats to the Bermudian athletes who performed magnificently!!! I’m sure the results were better than expected!!! You did yourselves & your country proud!!!! Proud To Be BERMUDIAN indeed!!!!! For those who missed seeing all of the action, you truly missed something fantastic!!!
