Woman Admits Stealing Electronics, Body Wash
Appearing in Magistrates Court yesterday [July 23], Carla Darrell, 51, pleaded guilty to stealing from two retailers.
Ms Darrell admitted to stealing electronic goods from PriceRite in June 2013, and stealing four bottles of body wash from the Marketplace in July. The total value was just under $750.
Ms Darrell said that she stole the items in order to sell them and get money to pay for drugs. She told the Senior Magistrate that she was now 51-years-old and had two children. She said that she was trying to turn her life around. She said that she had been doing drugs for many years and was now going to Turning Point and knew that it was time to get off drugs.
Senior Magistrate Archie Warner adjourned her case to September, and ordered a Social Inquiry Report and a Bermuda Assessment Referral Report for that time.
Ms Darrell was released on $1,000 bail and ordered not to leave the Court until she had made arrangements with the on-duty representative from the Department of Court Services.
