Cup Match Attendees Donate $1200 To Charity

August 6, 2013

Cup Match attendees donated approximately $1,200 during the recent Cup Match Classic to Project Action, a free transportation service for seniors and the physically challenged.

Co-Founder Mrs Cindy Swan said, “We would like to thank St. George’s Cricket club President Neil Paynter and the organizing committee members for allowing us space to collect donations for Project Action. The stellar volunteers that gave up their holiday hours to come out and support were all amazing.

“Rose Douglas felt that people were surprised and encouraged when they found out the services was free and we wanted to keep it free. One gentleman noted how he had to donate because “Shooby was so very good to my mother and I applaud the services provided by Project Action”

“We are definitely grateful to all and looking forward to making this an annual event for Project Action,” said Mrs Swan.

The collections were as follows:

On Thursday:

  • Somerset: $185.00
  • St. George’s: $398.00

On Friday:

  • Somerset: $364.50
  • St. George’s: $249.00

Total donations – $ 1196.50

“We would like to thank all who donated and congratulate Somerset on their draw and retention of the Cup,” concluded Mrs Swan.
