  1. sooooooo says:

How can 2 cars hit headon on a straight road in the middle of the day… shaking head in disbelief

    • SMH says:

I agree. Maybe they were texting each other…glad no one is seriously hurt though

      • Really?? says:

Not really, things happen, could have been a number of reasons why this happened. Avoiding something etc. Just thankful no fatality

    • Just Thinking says:

When drivers in Bermuda start to drive somewhere close to the actual speed limit and stop feeling the need to overtake like Nascar drivers we may see an end to all this carnage.

There was a time in Bermuda when we were afraid to speed, afraid to run a stop sign, afraid to do anything but drive in accordance to the law for fear of being stopped by radar or Police on patrol. There is no fear of that anymore.

It makes sense to drive with respect for other road users, cyclists, runners and pedestrians. Speeding really doesn’t save any time…when you are late, you are late…speeding can’t correct that.

Courtesy for other drivers is something we all should consider…the next time you see someone trying to come out into traffic…let them out…don’t let them have to make a mad dash for it and maybe put someone you love in harms way.

If everyone drove with patience and in accordance to the law we may start to see less accidents and much safer roads for everyone.

      • Tiger Lily says:

At our speed limit my car does not drive properly. Do you think we should go back to horse and carraiges.

        • Observant says:

If your car does not drive properly at the legal speed limit, you’re driving the wrong kind of car., Buy a Spark.

      • BermudaGirl says:

Just thinking, I think you speak for a lot of people; now we just have to do it!

    • ... says:

      maybe it was drunk driving?

  2. Ever drive in BDA? says:

sooooo, have you ever driven in Bda? I can think of a million reasons, like swerving to avoid a bicyclist, distracted driving, a stupid move by a motorbiker, turning into traffic too widely, etc.

    • MJ says:

Lets not forget two that I have seen cause accidents. Cardiac Arrest , and sleep depravation.

  3. Andy says:

that’s why they call them accidents – avoidable or otherwise…

  4. Idiot spotter says:

I think we can rule out both cars travelling within the speed limit.

    • a hoping onion says:

      Could not agree more!

      • Shake my head says:

You mean to tell me you still to the speed limit (25mph)? I doubt it

        • Observant says:

I do. I have a theory that I’d rather arrive late than not at all.

    • Really?? says:

      You don’t know that

  5. RawOnion says:

That is a pretty clear and straight stretch of road. However, there is still no proper center line painted on the road. The same for other roads that have been resurfaced….still no center line, although this may not be the cause of this accident.

Also, anyone who owns a car like the white one (Daewoo, Chevy Spark, and whatever the Chinese version is called) should take note as to how badly crumpled that car is in comparison to the Peugeot.

    • North West says:

That’s because it’s half the size and probably close to half the weight. It’s like Shaq colliding with Chris Paul.

      • someotherguy says:

The matiz (white car) only has a 3 star rating. That is ok rating for a car that size and how old it is but still so so.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPIKAssFO6Y . The newer model of the same car would have had less damage

But the Peugeot has a 4 star rating which is good, plus has better crumple zones.

  6. Snail says:

Bermuda’s roads are too narrow and curvy for folks to be trying to pass slower moving vehicles. All of these big-ass cars allowed on the island have got to go! The rules of the road need to be stressed. 1-Obey speed limit. 2-Do not pass on a yellow line, curves, unless you have clear passage. 3-Use turn signals. Slow down folks–you drive like hell you will get there!

    • Sers says:

Over taking on a yellow line isn’t actually against the law. And neither is the third lane for motor bikes. also using turn signals are just for being curtious not the law Why? No one knows.

  7. what ever says:

It seems like only …says has sense, I cant stand when ppl start blogging negative when they don,t even know what and how went wrong. until it is a family member or loved one of there own. I just hope everyone is okay that was involved even the one that was at fault and thank you …says the other bloggers need to know that it can happen to them too. You cant even be driving down the road safely with your family innocent and some other idiot to be on the road and cause this for you and your family without negative comments like they must have been texing one another I hoped the one that caused it wasn,t your drunk daddy

    • Really?? says:

I agree with you, all the negative comments made me cringe, so dam unnecessary

    • Seriously??? says:

      well said…

  8. Nuffin but da Truth says:

NO way were they driving at the correct speed limit…
    NO WAY in Hell!

  9. SoMuchMore says:

the story reads: collision that took place on Sea Swept Farm Road and South Road in Southampton. the accident was actually on middle road.

i passed by and could just hope the people involved will be okay. remember cars and bikes are replaceable, we are not.

  10. Duneenwurrywiffit says:

Like Bermudians stay on their side of the line when there is one.

  11. Diana says:

First off, am glad noone was seriously hurt….however looking at the scene there’s no way in hell at least one of them wasn’t speeding. We need a stronger police presence, radar is scanty as I drive the same route every morning with these foolish people overtaking me on the inside and outside causing me to slam brakes to avoid a collision with them and an oncoming car. I see the cops approx twice a month, not nearly enough.
Would it be nice for people to have courtesy and use common sense when driving on these roads? Of course. But let’s face it…Bermuda is past that now. Until we start bringing back licks and take away this Sunday shopping so we can have at least one day devoted to family, it won’t be back in a hurry.

  12. Seriously??? says:

Some of you are so insensitive with your comments. Did you ever stop to think that one party is actually the innocent victim(s)? No…not everyone speeds, texts while driving, overtakes when they are not supposed to, “disobeying the rules of the road.” Perhaps an innocent family was driving their car and got hit by a drunk driver. Remember, “it’s Cup Match time in Bermuda” and “Bermudians love to drink”, right? Ya right…..So please, before you cast your judgement or post STUPID comments..stop and think!!

  13. Triangle Drifter says:

Both cars did what they were designed to do, absorb the energy of the crash to save the humans inside.

First thing, check the phone records. Texting & yapping on the phone is the #1 cause of crashes these days.

Watched one only this Monday. Mr “I know how to drive while texting” is in front of me speeding up, slowing down, weaving onto the shoulder then back into his lane, all at 55-65MPH. He got the wake up call when he almost went off the shoulder, over corrected & went into the opposing traffic lane. IDIOT! Lucky nothing was coming the other way. It would have been death for sure at a combined collision speed of 120MPH.

Makes Bermuda crashes look like kiddie playground stuff.

At any speed, there is too much distracted driving. These are avoidable crashes, not accidents.

  14. Wow says:

Thank God you guys are safe. Hope this is a wake up call to the other driver as well. This could have turned out so differently.

  15. cuzzie says:

SMH!! I know the people who were knocked down, I’ll keep them in prayer. They’ll be out soon…

  16. Sparky says:

“Two cars collided resulting in at least three people sustaining what is believed to be non life threatening injuries.”
Amazing how the white car’s occupant[s] survived. They must have been wearing seat belts. The bigger grey/silver car seems to be well over the center [dotted] line on a straight road. With the photo’s as the only facts for my comment….looks to me like the grey/silver car carries the burden of fault. Hoping for a speedy recovery for all involved in this.

  17. MIster says:

I know the drivers of the white car, and the ones injured… they were headed to church…
    Don’t drink & drive!

  18. what ever says:

Thank you seriously??? They need more positive people like you and me, none of them were there but have so much to say sad sad sad. I,m not even gonna tell them what happened let them find out for there selves so pokey and judgemental, I just thank God the four you no who I mean are okay.

  19. Idiot spotter says:

Cracks me up the number of excuses folks come up with to justify accidents. Guess the guy I watched the other day on his bike, texting with both hands will blame the car that swerved to avoid him? Or those who overtake on the inside, or those who overtake on blind corners, or the stupid woman who overtakes the car in front, even though there is a huge line of traffic ahead. Always someone else’s fault here, right?

  20. Truth is killin' me... says:

Another flipped car up Southampton this am by Five Star (4th August)…took out a Belco pole… BRING OUT THE RADAR!!! This stretch of rode needs speed bumps!!!!!

  21. S.M.H. says:

No matter who is at fault im just happy no one died. For all you negative ppl you will wake up one day when it hits your front door that one of family members, friend or loved one has been involved in an accident, thats when you will start looking at the picture in a different way, until then if you don’t have the full story stop assuming and shut ur damn mouth csuse all you are doing is hurting someone.

    • Truth is killin' me... says:

No fool…the ones causing the accidents are hurting people!

  22. Water says:

Glad to know that God was truly with you while you where on your way to church. Praying for you all to have a speedy recovery. God bless you.

  23. I use my real name- Graham Maule says:

The smaller white car contained my friends, a husband and wife in the front seat, and their three beautiful daughters in the back. I witnessed the aftermath of the accident, and it shocked me. I am very grateful that their lives were spared. I just want to tell everyone who is trying to paint both vehicles’ drivers with the same brush, the truth will be revealed in due course. To those who insist on pointing fingers at those who are blameless, I ask you to please consider the friends and family of those who you falsely accuse. My prayers for a speedy recovery to my friends.

  24. edwin says:

Thank you Graham Maule, too many are quick to judge without knowing the truth, for your info the white car was pretty much at standstill when this happened.

  25. Not telling says:

STOP POSTING UR STUPID COMMENTS BECAUSE IT WAS A INNOSCENT FAMILY OF FIVE THAT WAS HIT BY A DRIVER.

    SO SHUT UP

  26. Camy says:

A woman, man, and 3 little girls were in the crash. NOBODY METIONED THE LITTLE GIRLS!!!!!

  27. Real Talk (original) says:

    Wow. The insensitivity is shocking…
All the armchair crime scene experts needs to lay down and stop jumping to conclusions.
Thankful that the physical injuries weren’t greater.
    Don’t drink and drive.
