Man Fined $1000 For Threatening Child’s Mother
Appearing in Magistrates Court last week, Jamil Simmons was fined $1,000 after he had pleaded guilty to texting threatening words to the mother of his young son. This happened between June 29 and July 19 this year.
The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that Simmons had admitted, to investigating Police, that he had sent these text messages.
Defence lawyer Rick Woolridge told the Magistrate that Simmons, 33, and his son’s mother had been in a relationship that had ended and that Simmons was currently under great stress.
Speaking for himself, Simmons told the Magistrate that after breaking-up with her, he had issues seeing his son, and also said that he was unhappy with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend and the new boyfriend’s growing relationship with the eighteen month-old product of their now broken relationship.
Magistrate Stoneham told Simmons, “With every goodbye, you must rise. You have disrespected the mother of your son. How will he learn to respect women?”
