Photos: Labour Day Celebration Speakers
Hundreds of union members, family, friends and supporters turned out to the Labour Day celebrations held at Union Square on Monday [Sept 2] outside the Bermuda Industrial Union Headquarters.
The group was addressed by Government and Opposition leaders along with representatives from the different unions on the island. Speakers included Premier Craig Cannonier, Acting Opposition Leader Derrick Burgess, Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy and Shadow Home Affairs Minister Walter Roban.
Union representatives included Bermuda Trade Union Congress President Alan Wilkinson, Bermuda Industrial Union President Chris Furbert, Bermuda Public Services Union President Kevin Grant, Bermuda Union Of Teachers President Keisha Douglas and Bermuda Entertainment Union President Leroy Simmons.
Wrapping up the speeches for the day was AME Reverend Nicholas Tweed who was also the guest speaker at the Labour Day Banquet on Friday night [Aug 30] and led the Labour Day Service on Sunday [Sept 1] at St Paul AME Church.
