“South Pacific” Show Set To Hit City Hall Stage
The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Bermuda is inviting all fans of the stage to take in the team’s production of South Pacific in October, providing all in attendance with a taste of World War II romance and intrigue.
South Pacific follows the exploits of an American nurse stationed on a South Pacific island during the second World War as she falls in love with an expatriate French plantation owner, forcing her to deal with the fact that he has mixed-race children. A second story line explores the love between an American military man and a Tonkinese woman as he struggles to comprehend the social consequences of marrying his Asian lover. All in all, the play aims to take a candid and unabashed look at racial prejudice and its social connotations during the era, making for an eye-opening show.
Gilbert and Sullivan’s rendition of South Pacific will hit the stage at City Hall from October 10 through October 19, with the show beginning at 8 PM. Regular tickets cost $55, while special children’s tickets, for kids 10 and under, are $25, giving them access to a planned matinee performance on October 13.
There will also be a dinner and show package available for an additional $35, giving show-goers the opportunity to enjoy a meal at the Victoria Grill before the production begins.
Tickets can be purchased online now via Premier Tickets.
