21-Year-Old Charged In Sexual Assault Case

October 11, 2013

A 21-year-old man was charged in Magistrates Court this morning [Oct 11] with the indictable offence of sexually assaulting a young woman on 27th July 2013. The charge indicated that he was involved with others who are not, at this time, before the Court. At this stage none of the three can be named.

Crown Prosecutor Maria Sofianos told the Senior Magistrate that the Crown’s intention was to join this action with two other men similarly charged, but required time to do so.

The Senior Magistrate ruled that the matters should be consolidated and come back before him on 14th October. He remanded the young man into custody until that date.

what is going on ,,so many alleged Sexual Asaults,,

  3. Watching On says:

Women are no longer ashamed to report the cases of abuse and assault notwithstanding the shunning they may from the alleged perpetrator family and friends. I applaud them.

  4. Tolerate says:

My thoughts exactly. The shame is its range in ages from 50 to 20? Have our man (and I use that word loosely as they are not really man) lost all sense of morals?

  5. ed says:

Probably because the youth of today think they’re above the law, have gangster mentality and have no respect for women.

    • markus says:

How many +50 year old perverts have been in the news over the years? Don’t put this on the youth when everybody knows that there has been a lot of problems in the past as well

  6. RawOnion says:

So disappointing to hear sexual assault happening more and more and by younger persons. Guys should be grateful they are not living in the USA, their names will be spread over every local paper and the will register as sex offenders for life. I cant think of anything worse shame that comes with that registry (other then the hurt caused to the victim). Bermuda needs to have a registry.

  7. Ghost Rider says:

It’s really quite easy to get a Sexual Predator Register.

If enough people ((VOTERS)) sign a Petition demanding this Register
    it will happen.

The powers that be will have no option but to make it happen.

    In case people have forgotten..

    it’s Government of the People,
    By The People,For the People.

BERMUDA would do well to remember this!

Ghost Rider – I think I understand the point you are trying to make – if enough people take action, we would hope that the Government would listen and create such a list. However, Bermuda is not the United States and therefore the reference to Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address made during the American Civil War is irrelevant. (Just saying…).
