Arts Centre Set For Second Studio Artist Show

October 17, 2013

The Dockyard Arts Centre will present their second annual Studio Artist Show with the show, dubbed “Oil, Water & Wood,” set to open on October 20th, featuring new works by Christopher Grimes, Jonah Jones, Christopher Marson and Chesley Trott.

All four artists are no strangers to the art scene. The oil segment of the show includes the work of Christopher Grimes and Jonah Jones, two oil painters with two different approaches to the canvas. Grimes leans towards the quieter old Bermuda scene, while Jones throws colour to the wind, capturing the lights and darks of Bermuda homes and tranquil harbours.

Christopher Marson, who is also well established as one of the island’s foremost water colour artists, has once again proven that water colours can be bold and descriptive.

Chesley Trott, who has been with the Arts Centre since it was established in 1984, offers an amazing array of Bermuda Cedar Works, covering everything from toys to sculptures.

All four artists are well known in Bermuda’s art scene, each working from a studio in the Arts Centre. The Arts Centre offers its general members nine of 11 shows to enter into. Last year was the first time that the four studio artists came together to form one show together in the main gallery. The show was so well received last year that the Arts Centre was excited to make it an annual event.

The organisers said this promises to be an amazing presentation, with four of Bermuda’s best showing together; there will be something for everyone. All four artists will be on hand at the opening to chat with visitors about their works.

After opening on October 2, the show will run until November 23. The Arts Centre is open every day from 10am to 5pm.
