Special Waste Drop Off On November 1st, 2nd

October 28, 2013

The Ministry of Public Works said they wish to advise the public that it will hold their semi-annual Special Waste Drop Off event this Friday November 1st and Saturday November 2nd.

A spokesperson said, “Residents may bring compact fluorescent light bulbs, old pesticides, hobby chemicals, outdated medicines or anything else with a hazardous or warning label to the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy plant on Palmetto Road, Devonshire between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“If put into regular household garbage, special waste items can present a health risk for Waste Collections Staff, Bermuda’s environment and you.

“Through the Ministry’s Comprehensive Waste Management Plan all Special Waste items are sent overseas for safe disposal and, whenever possible, recycling which benefits all of us in Bermuda by keeping us safe from potential environmental hazards and benefits the planet by reusing or recycling the end product.”
