$2000 Raised At Charity Basketball Tournament
The Caines Brothers 3-on-3 Charity Basketball Tournament was a resounding success, with approximately 350 people attending the event and about 60 participants and officials.
On Saturday night, the CedarBridge gymnasium played host to a five hour high-octane event that saw some of the island’s premier basketball players competing for over $2,000 in total prize money.
Throughout the night, giveaways were handed out to the crowd and four lucky audience members had a chance to win a phone of their choice with a year’s free service with a successful half-court shot; sadly, none of the attempts were successful. One lucky person in the audience did win an iPad Mini in a random draw.
The big winner of the night was the Family Centre, as just under $2000 was raised on the night. The Family Center is a community organization which services families in crisis from a holistic perspective.
It provides treatment and solutions for every facet of the family unit. The Family Centre’s Executive Director, Martha Dismont, and some her staff were in attendance and assisted with the organization of the night’s events.
Local cell phone provider Digicel also played a big role in the evening, sponsoring the event and providing volunteers to help the tournament run smoothly.
The night’s winners included:
Men’s Team Winner: Team HL [Jason Lowe, Damon Saunders, Paul Wilson, Chris Crumpler]
Women’s Team Winner: Team JNT [Jamila Godwin, LaKeisha Bell, Tashae Thompson, Nicole Crumpler]
Men’s Team Second Place: Team No Sir [Dean Jones, Ryan Rabain, Te’Jour Riley, Sabur Bey]
Women’s Team Second Place: Team Hoop Smashers [Sade’ Fox, Teshay Gibbons, Kashintae Fox]
Slam Dunk Winner: Te’Jour Riley
3 Point Shoot Out Winner: Chris Crumpler
Good, now will The Caines Brothers volunteer for The Ducking Stool!
(I’d pay good hard $$$’s to see that happen!).
Nuffin but da truth what does your comment mean? two men working for our community an you start with a negative comment. I took my son to the event and I was blown away by the organization and the support. You need to go to the ducking stool. Good work brothers your community thanks you
Class act thanks Caines brothers!
Nothin but the truth the ducking stool comment makes light of the work that volunteers put into helping make this country run. I am from the Uk and these young men are who we are dying to have our young men be modeled after. I am sure they are not perfect but if that is all you can say. Wow!
I was at the 3 on 3 it was fun, entertaining and for a good cause. When is the next one?
