Consulate Announces U.S. Virtual College Fair

The U.S. Consulate General announced the 24-hour, online EducationUSA Virtual College Fair for international youth on November 13, 2013.

Open to anyone who has an Internet connection, the virtual fair will be available in an interactive Internet environment, offering potential students access to more than 100 U.S. institutions of higher learning, plus informational webcasts. To register and to view the list of participating colleges, as well as the day’s schedule of webcasts, visit here.

This virtual fair will work like popular online video games; students from overseas will be able to watch webinars and ask questions. Login anytime from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on November 13, 2013 to live chat with hundreds of universities, get advice from study abroad experts, and hear about other students’ experiences. You can also listen to live presentations by EducationUSA, College Board, and other education experts about choosing a school, staying safe on campus, and more.

The event includes live webcast sessions with various college admissions representatives and with subject matter experts on the following topics:

  • Graduate Admissions and Funding [7 am EST]
  • Undergraduate Admissions and Funding [8 am EST]
  • International Students Share Their Experiences [9 am EST]
  • The U.S. Student Visa Process [10 am EST]

  • Choosing the Right University for You [2 pm EST]

The Consulate reminds students that State Department eIntern Lebona Hailu of the University of Maryland is available to answer questions. As a university student herself, Lebona is available electronically to answer a wide range questions about attending college in the United States, from cost and areas of study to student life and extracurricular activities, along with everything in between.
