“Details are sketchy at this juncture but it appears that a motorcade that left Somerset Cricket Club with around 20 cars entered the grounds of the St David’s Cricket Club just after a football game concluded.

“Upon the motorcade’s arrival at the grounds, it appears that a male threw a projectile hitting a member of the motorcade in the head, the suspect then made good his escape.

“This created a very tense situation in the area however a large police response resulted and there were no further incidents. The man hit in his head received injuries, but refused any police intervention.

“Police are interested in speaking with anyone who has any information about this incident to contact police on 29-50011 and inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

“We should stress it was no disruption to the match and the attack was no reflection on the St. David’s Cricket Club or the Somerset Cricket Club but individuals with preexisting tensions.”
