Island Trading Donates To Charitable Trust

March 4, 2014

Island Trading has made two donations to the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust [BHCT], beginning with an initial donation of eleven steel-toe construction boots, valued at over $750.

Steel-toed boots are a mandatory safety regulation on the construction site and this unique in-kind gift enabled more people to safely access the facility for tours.

Tours have been important for education, planning and orientation, and have included BHB staff, Board members, physicians, Cabinet Members, Ministry of Health representatives, and donors.

Inspired by the progress of the KEMH Redevelopment Project, Island Trading then committed to an additional donation of $5,000 towards the Why it Matters campaign.

Laura Farge-Lowe, Vice President of Island Trading said, “We recognise the importance of supporting local projects, especially something like the hospital that affects us all. As a local business we are happy to do our part.”

“The success of the Why it Matters campaign depends on support from all areas of our community” said Wendy Augustus, Executive Director of BHCT. “We are grateful for donations from local businesses, such as Island Trading. Their interest in the project and willingness to give whole-heartedly to the campaign has helped us broaden philanthropic support both financially and in-kind.”
