RHADC To Host O’pen Bic Sailing This Week
The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club [RHADC] will be hosting the 2014 O’pen Bic North American Championship from April 24th-27th, with young sailors from Hawaii, the Continental U.S. and France joining our own competitors in Bermuda.
The 35 strong fleet will be racing in the waters of Hamilton Harbour and the Great Sound.
Vice Commodore of the RHADC, Neil Redburn said, “The design of the O’pen Bic gives young sailors a true glide machine for real excitement on the water.
“The boat is made of durable materials with handles moulded into the design. It is self draining and simple to rig, in fact it can be rigged in about two minutes. The aim of the O’Pen Bic is to energise sailing providing both serious and fun components.”
Many of the sailors and their families will be visiting Bermuda for the first time, and the RHADC said they are excited to be extending their hospitality to them with a number of activities planned at RHADC.
“RHADC would like to thank sponsors Arch Re, Bermuda Tourism Authority, BCL, Bermuda Forwarders, Tidal Asset Management and Isolated Surfboards without whom this would not have been possible,” a spokesperson said.
