Photos: Hamilton Princess Upgrade In Progress
The $90 million upgrade to the Fairmont Hamilton Princess is underway, with some 21 subcontractors represented by 90 staff working on the site.
Earlier this year the Green family — the Bermudian family that owns the hotel — announced details of major renovation plans designed to enhance the property, with the project being conducted in phases to minimise disruption to hotel guests.
The upgrades are set to include an infinity pool, private cabanas, new hot tub, renovation of the 69 guestrooms/suites, new furniture, new Gazebo-style bar & grill and much more.
The pool area, which will be almost three times the size of the current pool, will have luxury loungers, shaded seating and hammocks. There will also be a new hot tub and enhancements to the poolside food and beverage offering.
In addition to a new restaurant “1609″, a renovation of 69 guestrooms and suites in the Poinciana wing of the hotel is also part of Phase I.
The floor to ceiling renovation will include new furniture, fixtures and equipment inside the rooms, as well as an extension of the dramatic balconies and terraces overlooking Hamilton Harbour.
The Green Family recently announced that the new marina will open in mid-July, with the new state-of-the-art marina to have up to 60 permanent berths available for locals who are interested in marina facilities in Hamilton Harbour.
There will be additional space available for visiting craft of all sizes including super yachts. The hotel said the marina is being built to withstand a Level 6 Hurricane.
The upgrades are being done in a “quiet construction” manner due to a “Vibratech Hammer”, which combines vibration with 100 tons of pressure to push the pylons into the sea bed.
The pylons are then tapped down using 150 tons of pressure. You can read more information about the general construction and upgrades on the Fact Sheet here [PDF].

You will no doubt see you investment back…this is the perfect example of building to create immediate esthetic value ,which in return “immediately” increases value in property equity…meaning …through creating esthetic beauty utilising the natural beauty surrounding the area….and spending a sum….you have increased that sum about thrice . You lot feng shui’d de area wall to wall well done!
Beautiful! Many thanks to the Green Family for believing in Bermuda. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for the old Sonesta property. This makes me so hopeful for our lovely Island.
