Power Restored To CCTV After Disconnection
Power to the GET owned CCTV poles was disconnected yesterday before the transfer of ownership of the poles had concluded, however the transfer has now been completed and BELCO have resumed powering the CCTV cameras.
In a short statement today [Apr 17], Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to inform the public that the power to the GET owned CCTV poles was disconnected yesterday before the transfer of ownership of the poles had concluded.
“The transfer of ownership has now been completed and BELCO have resumed powering the CCTV cameras that were temporarily without power. We wish to extend our thanks to GET Ltd., BAS-SERCO, and BELCO for working expeditiously to resolve this issue.”
The new island-wide CCTV system was supposed to be operational as of April 1st, but has been delayed. The service was previously provided by GET Securities Ltd, however BAS/Serco was selected to provide the new expansion contract.
ok …so where do we go to view these live feeds..? i mean, they are are cameras aren’t they..? PortBermuda.com is kinda boring…
spelling correction :”our” cameras,not “are”…
Sure, give the crims access to view the security so they can plan they activities around them. That’s what the rest of major cities do in developed countries do, right?
Thank you Belco.
it should not require much to power some Camras hook 2 12Vs on them. so how is this going to work. is someone going to be watching the cams or do with check them after a drive by and find out they were down?
Please tell us how many cameras are active and working!
