May 27, 2014

Ironshore is getting set to present Bermuda’s first Relay For Life event, a 24 hour fundraiser which will begin on Friday, May 30 at 6.00pm at North Field, National Sports Centre.

A spokesperson said, “During the 24 hours, team members will take turns walking the track. On the schedule are three ceremonies on the field to celebrate our survivors and remember our lost loved ones. A beautiful Luminaria ceremony, including dedicating a candle, will be a quiet and moving time, while a lively Fight Back ceremony in the battle against cancer will also be held.

“The event already has 130 teams of people, including approximately 2,000 participants, ready to take part.”

“Funds raised are in aid of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre to raise awareness and to provide detection, support, and treatment for all Bermuda residents in the fight against cancer. This is the ultimate sleepover party – an all-nighter with activities and fun for all the whole family. This event is not to be missed; come and join the party.

“This event will be Bermuda’s biggest cancer fundraising event and it is still not too late to sign up a team to participate and raise money, personally dedicate a Luminaria bag for a loved one to light at the moving dusk Luminaria ceremony, sponsor a participant, or attend our event as a spectator; for a $5 gate fee to support participants, all attendees will enjoy family fun and activities.”
