Bernews Wins 2014 Best Of Bermuda Award
Bernews is pleased to report that we have won a Best of Bermuda Award for the fourth consecutive year, being named the “Best Source of News and Information” for 2014.
The awards, which The Bermudian magazine has held annually since 1990, serve to celebrate the best people, places, and businesses across the island.
Also awarded within the island’s media community was Vibe 103, which was named Best Radio Station, Keevel “The Captain” Burgess, who was named Best Radio Personality, the Royal Gazette’s Sam Strangeways, who was named Best Journalist, and Chris Famous, who was named Best Columnist.
On the political front, the late Louise Jackson was honoured with the Award of Excellence, while Finance Minister Bob Richards was named the Most Effective Politician.
PLP MP David Burt was named both Shadow Minister in the Limelight and Pit Bull Politician, while the magazine dubbed “Nandi-Gate” – the recording made by MP Nandi Outerbridge – as the “Political Goof” of the year.
In the sports category, professional footballer Nahki Wells was named Athlete of the Year, veteran martial artist Skipper Ingham was named the best Sports Coach/Instructor, and the island’s top paralympian, Jessica Lewis, won a People’s Choice award.
Talented artist Lexy Correia was honoured with the Visual Artist award, the Bermuda Arts Centre was given the nod in the Art Gallery division, the best Vocal Artist went to D.I.A. [Devil’s Isle Audio], D’General won for best Club/Party DJ, and Sweet Saak Bakery won the best Fresh Breads and Pastries award.
