United Airlines Flight Diverts For Sick Passenger

[Updated] A United Airlines flight diverted to the island tonight [Aug 9] after a passenger on board the aircraft took ill while the plane was on its way to Newark, New Jersey.

Flight 1592 landed at the LF Wade International Airport at approximately 7.50pm and was met at the main terminal by Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel, airport officials and an attending ambulance.

The Boeing 737-900 [twin-jet] aircraft had departed from the Punta Cana Airport in Dominican Republic and was on route to New Jersey when the plane’s captain decided to divert to Bermuda shortly before 7pm. The passenger was transferred to King Edward Memorial Hospital by ambulance for further care.

Update 11.23pm: United Airlines Flight 1592 departed LF Wade International Airport at approximately 10.40pm tonight with the flight continuing on its journey to New Jersey.

    The sick passenger was better of flying ti his destination then coming here to the KEMH – after he comes out of there he will be sick!
    Wait to the poor bugger see’s the Bill – especially when it’s the same price as his house.
