Bermuda Win Five Medals In Costa Rica

8170[Updated] Bermuda’s National Wushu Team will arrive back on the island with a total of five medals after having made a strong showing at the 10th Pan American Wushu Championships in Costa Rica.

Reyel Bowen and Jermal Woolridge both won gold medals, and Sentwali Woolridge also captured a gold medal when he defeated Marcus Sehatin from Brazil.

Talia Iris captured a silver medal after she was narrowly defeated by Ragan Beedy from the United States, and Khalid Pitcher finished with a bronze medal.

Bermuda San Shou Association President Garon Wilkinson praised the team, saying it was an “all around top notch performances by Bermuda’s National Wushu Team.”

Update 2.56pm: Shadow Minister of Sports, Mr. Michael Weeks said, “On behalf of the Progressive Labour Party, I wish to congratulate the medalists from the 10th Pan American Wushu Championships in Costa Rica.

“The gold medalists, Reyel Bowen, Jermal Woolridge, and Sentwali Woolridge, silver medalist, Talia Iris, and bronze medalist, Khalid Pitcher, represented Bermuda superbly on the international stage and we congratulate them. We wish them all the best in future competitions.”
