Logic: “Core Network Remained Operational”

October 21, 2014

Logic Communications Ltd. said that their core network remained operational throughout Hurricane Gonzalo with no loss of service for wired Internet service customers.

“Although Logic’s Internet service remains operational, service to customers is dependent on their access provider’s [CableVision or BTC] service and the restoration of power to their homes,” explained a Logic spokesperson.

“Logic’s wireless network sustained severe damage with 67% of base stations damaged by the hurricane. This left approximately 50% of wireless customers without Internet service representing less than 1% of all Logic Internet service customers. As of today, Logic’s engineering team have restored 87% of the wireless network and are working to restore the remainder as soon as possible.”

Vicki Coelho, Logic’s Chief Executive Officer, says: “I would like to express how thankful we are that there was no loss of life and how incredibly proud we are of the spirit of cooperation amongst all Bermuda residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Gonzalo.

“Logic’s robust core network was able to withstand the impact of Hurricane Gonzalo giving our customers the ability to stay up to date with news, and stay connected to love ones both here and abroad.

“Our wireless network did sustain severe damage but Logic’s engineers have worked diligently to restore service and will complete restoration as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any disruption of service.”
