Ministry Of National Security: Storm Advisory
Today [Oct 11] the Ministry of National Security issued an advisory in advance of Subtropical Storm Fay, saying that it is expected to pass approximately 50-70nm to the east of Bermuda around 2am on Sunday morning.
“Bermuda is expected to experience strengthening winds this afternoon reaching tropical storm force winds from 6.00 pm this evening that last into the early hours of tomorrow morning,” the advisory said.
“Due to the winds effects, there may be an impact on flights coming into the L.F. Wade International Airport this evening. Residents are encouraged to call their respective airlines to get latest updates on this evening’s flight arrivals and departures.
“In the meantime, the Island will remain under a Tropical Storm Warning until the weather system has passed its closest point of approach and conditions have reduced below tropical storm force in the Bermuda marine area.”

Today the Ministry of National Security issued the following advisory in advance of Subtropical Storm Fay.
Latest weather reports indicate that Subtropical Storm Fay is expected to pass approximately 50-70nm to the east of Bermuda around 2.00 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] advises that this is a fast moving storm and Bermuda is expected to experience strengthening winds this afternoon reaching tropical storm force winds from 6.00 pm this evening that last into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
Due to the winds effects, there may be an impact on flights coming into the L.F. Wade International Airport this evening. Residents are encouraged to call their respective airlines to get latest updates on this evening’s flight arrivals and departures.
In the meantime, the Island will remain under a Tropical Storm Warning until the weather system has passed its closest point of approach and conditions have reduced below tropical storm force in the Bermuda marine area.
Residents are encouraged to take the appropriate precautions regarding Subtropical Storm Fay.
Those living in elevated and exposed areas to northeast through north winds, as well as low lying and coastal areas should make the necessary residential preparations. And as a precaution, those who own boats and watercraft are encouraged to secure their vessels in advance of the storm.
As a general reminder, the public will be aware that Hurricane season officially began June 1, and concludes November 30. With that in mind, residents should ensure their storm kits are up to date.

The Ministry advised that other preparation tips are as follows:
ROOF AND TANK
Block the gutters with clean rags or other device to prevent any leaves, salt and other contamination from entering your water tank.
WINDOWS & DOORS
Installing storm shutters over all exposed windows and other glass surfaces is one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your home. Cover all windows, French doors, sliding glass doors and skylights. Plywood shutters that you make yourself, if installed properly, can offer a high level of protection from flying debris during a hurricane.
OUTDOOR FURNITURE
Bring in outdoor objects such as lawn furniture, toys and garden tools; anchor objects that cannot be brought inside but that could be wind-tossed. Remove outdoor antennas, if possible.

i formally submit to my people…ok erry body else…you have your people…and i have mine…i advise my people to pay attention and shutter and drop your windows to three inches….erry one be your brothers keeper as one….love one another and drink some stolies or anything past 12 years old …but be prepared to assist…
Anything within a 100 miles should be called a direct hit. Weather people should just tell the truth. Storm of to the East creates false sense of security and results in unnecessary damage. Just “sayin”!
