Opposition: “Bermudian Spirit In Full Display”

October 20, 2014

“It is in challenging times such as this when we truly see the Bermudian spirit in full display,” Opposition Leader Marc Bean said today [Oct 20].

PLP Leader Marc Bean said, “I am very gratified to know that there was no loss of life directly attributed to Hurricane Gonzalo. Unfortunately, there have been incidences of damage around the island, however, we must be grateful that the damage was not as widespread as it could have been.

“The community spirit that has been shown by neighbors working together to clear fallen branches and to check in on the elderly has made me proud.

“Our thanks and appreciation goes out to our Bermuda Police Service, Bermuda Fire Service, Bermuda Regiment, and to Belco and BTC who have all worked tirelessly to serve and protect our country and to restore service in the wake of Gonzalo. It is in challenging times such as this when we truly see the Bermudian spirit in full display.

Shadow Minister Walter Roban said, “As Shadow Minister of Public Safety, I must express my heartfelt appreciation to the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire Service for doing their best to protect our people during this time. We weathered the storm and now our task is to learn from this experience and apply to the next.

“Over the next few weeks there will be a an opportunity to reflect on all aspects of storm readiness, the EMO, and the recovery process, and in this post mortem we can identify areas that we did well in, and those that may need improvement. I echo the sentiments of my Party Leader that it has been wonderful to see the Bermudian spirit in full force.”

Thanks for your concerns Mr. Bean & Roban but aren’t you both a wee bit late?

    • Yahoo says:

Ray Ray, always something dumb and/or annoying to say about everything that happens on this island. Maybe you should join the opposition… you’d fit right in!

  2. marge says:

Bermuda, we need to be so thankful to Premier Dunkley, he will go down in history as one of the best leaders of this Island.

    • Ian says:

Why’s that? Because he successfully obtained premiership by using the surrogate premier who actually won the election for the UBP? He gets credit for patience and steadfastness in sticking to the gameplan of the (proven-to-exist) report which detailed that strategy.

  3. Craig Mayne says:

Seriously, does anyone care what the plp say??? They did more damage to this island, physically, financially and socially, than these two storms put together by a long shot!!!! Somehow to this day, they have not received the memo, that they lost election??? Man are they dense????

  4. Dready says:

The OBA are for the people, that’s why everyone wants to work with them.
