Grenada Bound Injured Sailor Diverts To Island

An injured sailor bound for Grenada, safely made his way to Bermuda for shelter and medical assistance arriving in St George’s Harbour over the weekend with assistance from Spirit of Bermuda which itself had arrived shortly before from Rockport.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Thursday 30th October at 08:26, RCC Bermuda received a call from RCC Norfolk who advised us that the Captain of the 39ft S/v Adesso injured his back enroute to Grenada.

“The Adesso was 207nm NW of Bermuda when alerted. RCC Norfolk advised that the S/v will proceed to Bermuda for shelter and medical assistance.

“A 12 hour communication schedule was kept with the Adesso via satellite telephone, until she was within VHF range(30 – 40 miles). Saturday 1st November 22:00, the S/v Spirit of Bermuda safely guided the Adesso into St. Georges Harbour.”
