Audio: MP Jamahl Simmons Officially Sworn In
Newly-elected MP Jamahl Simmons was sworn in this morning [Nov 21], with Speaker of the House Randy Horton administering the oath to begin today’s session in the House of Assembly.
On November 18th, Mr. Simmons won the bye-election in Constituency #33 Sandys South, defeating the OBA’s Georgia Marshall, winning 462 votes [58.18%] to the OBA’s 326 [41.05%], with 6 spoiled ballots [0.75%]. The bye-election followed the resignation of Terry Lister, who announced his retirement from politics in September.
Today marks a return to the House by Mr Simmons, who previously sat in the House as a United Bermuda Party Member of Parliament from 2002 – 2007.

Hopefully for Bermuda’s sake Jamahl learned from his part mistakes and will take this opportunity to mature and better himself.
Congratulations Mr Simmons and all those hard working persons in Sandys! Well done! Now stay focus and work in the best interest of the people. Keep pushing forward and do not get caught up in the Naysayers, just do for the people!
Remember that for some the failure of the OBA political strategy has failed despite their desperate attempts! Victory becomes a more difficult pill for them to swallow.
Stand together and strong!
