Simmons: I Pledged To Be Accessible, Available

November 20, 2014

“During the campaign I pledged to be accessible and available to constituents and encouraged them to contact me with their ideas, concerns and suggestions,” newly-elected MP Jamahl Simmons said today, providing a list of ways that his constituents can reach him.

On November 18th, Mr. Simmons won the bye-election in Constituency #33 Sandys South, defeating the OBA’s Georgia Marshall, winning 462 votes [58.18%] to the OBA’s 326 [41.05%], with 6 spoiled ballots [0.75%]

Mr. Simmons said, “I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Constituency 33. Thank you for your support.

“The first item on the agenda is to canvass all of the people we missed during the campaign. With over 1,300 voters and the limited election period, we were unable to see everyone, hear their concerns and get their feedback on taking the community forward. This canvass will commence on Saturday.

“During the campaign I pledged to be accessible and available to constituents and encouraged them to contact me with their ideas, concerns and suggestions. To that end I am available via:

  • Cell: 533-7007
  • Email: jamahls@plp.bm
  • Facebook: www.facebook.com/jamahl.simmons
  • PLP Constituency 33 on Facebook: www.facebook.com/PLP33

Mr. Simmons added, “I will also commence Constituency Clinics on a monthly basis, starting in December.

“I encourage all constituents of Sandys South to continue expressing their views, pushing their concerns and holding me accountable.

“Thanks again to the people of Sandys South and to the wonderful team of PLP volunteers that helped us to achieve victory at the polls. Now the work begins,” concluded Mr. Simmons.

Nothing but negative comments from you all. Regardless, of his political affiliation, he’s reaching out to all the his constituents on input to improve the area. You all clearly blinded by party lines, the very thing most of you preach against in pre-election in attempts to get others to support the person you feel is the best candidate (your party candidate). Judge the man by his actions for the constituents, this is clearly a positive start.
Pre-general election, MP Jeff Sousa regularly held meetings for the constituents he was running in. Not sure if he still does but the same pre-election meeting sign is still posted. The actions are very good ones taken by the new MPs to get the views the people he represents.

And for reference, not all MPs live in their constituency.
Ie. MP Cannonier, MP Davis-Outerbrige, and MP Horton are a few that quickly that come to mind.

    • LiarLiar says:

I am blinded by his nasty tweets.

Reaching out to all his constituents except for Toni !!!!! Remember what he did there to help a constituent…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

  9. JUNK YARD DOG says:

He is a very nice person.
We need very nice people to run our country.
Why does he need very nice ideas ?
Does he not have a very nice platform ?

  10. Voice of Reason says:

These comments are so shameful how do we expect the kids to behave nicely and respect each other if grown adults don’t exhibit that same behavior. Grow up people!!!
