Bermuda To Celebrate Earth Hour On March 28th

February 18, 2015

On March 28th, Greenrock will partner with Waterfront Properties Limited, to host the 7th annual celebration of Earth Hour in Bermuda.

For the seventh year running, the City of Hamilton will turn dark for one hour, from 8:30pm until 9:30pm, in the hopes of sending a powerful message promoting a brighter future for our planet and its inhabitants, stressing the importance of living sustainably.

The philosophy behind Earth Hour is that this singular mass movement will help to share further awareness and encourage action in protecting our ever-changing environment.

All Bermuda residents have the opportunity participate with a global community of millions of people across 162 countries and territories in this critically important and educational exercise.

Earth Hour, which kicked off in Sydney, Australia in 2007, has grown leaps and bounds in increasing awareness and creating global impact. This year promises to be an electrifying and unique event, which will include a 5K Glow Fun Walk and Run through the dark streets of the City.

Tanya Corbridge, Property Manager for the Waterfront Properties, commented “The Waterfront and its tenants are honored and excited about being asked by Greenrock to host the Earth Hour event this year in order to raise awareness about energy conservation.

“Waterfront Properties has always endeavored to incorporate energy conservation in its day to day property management and operations. We anticipate that Waterfront’s courtyard will be an ideal setting for the start and finish of the 5K where the community can come together to celebrate this global initiative.”

Eugene Dean, Greenrock founding member and Earth Hour Chairman, stated “We are looking forward to once again promoting Earth Hour in Bermuda.

“We are currently working on lining up some great entertainment for the evening with the event kicking off at 7pm and wrapping up around 10:00pm. This is a great opportunity for families to come together, have fun and raise awareness for an increasingly important cause.”

“We are hopeful that the community at large will participate with us on March 28th at the Waterfront on Pitts Bay Road. General information on the Earth Hour movement can be found at www.earthhour.org and on Greenrock’s website www.greenrock.org.
