Women’s Futsal: Dandy Stars, PHC, YMSC Win
The Women’s Futsal League kicked off last night [Jan 31] at the Warwick Academy Gym with Dandy Stars defeating HPWC, PHC claiming a victory over CP Chicas, while YMSC won by default over SCC.
Dandy Stars 5 – HPWC 1
Dandy Stars had a difficult first half against a determined HPWC and at half time Stars led by 3 to 1. However, they dominated the second half scoring 2 more unaswered goals. Jada Samuels led Stars with 2 goals and Zahra Gibbons, Kashintae Fox and Kyla Ramatar scored 1 goal each. Asrael Basden scored the lone goal for HPWC.
PHC 9, – CP Chicas 5.
The game of the evening saw defending champions PHC outscore a determined Chicas team that jumped out to an early lead in the first half. PHC charged back in the first half, led by Aaliyah Nolan and at half time PHC led 6 to 3. Chicas made a brave effort in the second half, but could not match PHC’s goal scoring. Most outstanding player for PHC was Leane Yates in defense.
Aaliyah Nolan, Taznae Fubler, Jessica Furtado and Kalay Hollis scored 2 goals each and Symira-Lowe-Darrell 1 goal. Cheyra Bell was outsanding in goal for CP Chicas, with Rayni Maybury and Shunte Todd scoring 2 goals each and LeiLanni Nesbeth scoring 1 goal. With the win, PHC sent out an early warning that once again they appear to be the team to beat this year.
