Bermuda Bicycle Association Team Time Trial
The Bermuda Bicycle Association recently held its Team Time Trial, with the start/finish line in Clearwater in St. David’s and the course proceeding to St. David’s Road and onto the airport roundabout and back, twice.
The winning team of Darren Glasford, Matthew Oliveira, Mark Hatherley, and Anthony Bartley, representing Winners Edge, covered the 16 miles in 41 minutes and 52 seconds, making an average speed of 23.7 mph.
The Madison Digicel team of Neil Lupsic, Brian Drea, Phil Mace and Kwame Curling were second, 1:05 adrift of the winners, having lost Mace early on with mechanical issues.
Teams required three riders to finish in order to stop the clock. The podium was rounded out by Team Tokio’s representatives Matt Thomson, Geoff Smith, Mark Wilcox, and Chris Eaton, who were just 22 seconds behind second place.
The lone all female team from MissFits finished in 10th overall and turned in a strong performance considering that three of the team were participating in their first road cycling event. Lead by Deanna Didyk, the team also included Sharon Hammond, Kandis Matthews and Tammy Ingham.
