Airport’s Air Conditioning Off, Being Repaired

April 24, 2015

The Department of Airport Operations confirmed that the airport’s “climate control system is currently off line” and said the “necessary repairs to the air conditioning system will be completed this weekend.”

A spokesperson said, “The Department of Airport Operations [DAO] wishes to advise the public that the airport’s Climate Control System is currently off line after operational concerns were discovered during a routine scheduled diagnostic check.

“The service contractor, Air Care Limited, is working with the plant manufacturer, to complete a comprehensive and meticulous restoration process of the aging system.

“Whilst works continue, the DAO has deployed remote air conditioning units and cooling fans throughout the airport. Additionally, complimentary bottles of water have been made available to both passengers and airport staff at ice bins located throughout the terminal.

“Airport General Manager, Aaron Adderley, acknowledged that though these measures along with occasional cool, breezy conditions have helped; not having suitable climate control for any period of time was not ideal.

“The DAO is advised that the necessary repairs to the air conditioning system will be completed this weekend and apologizes for the inconvenience this required outage will have caused.”

Meticulate the restoration of you thought process…maintain what you have and are responsible for!……..seems to me….you don’t take care of what you have….but your indicating you need a new one….ohhhhhohhh….we had to restore the aging air condishioner…..proper scheduled maintenance is what you need!….show me your scheduled maintenance….you can’ can you?!… That is because you don’t have any…..you don’t get a new airport unless you take care of the one you have!

Air Care are responsible for maintaining a running plant. Get paid a huge contract fee to deliver just that. Same old story, another one bite the dust.

I work in a school where there is no air conditioning and we have recorded temperatures up 99 degrees on hot June, September days in our classrooms. They can survive a few days without A/C. really?

    • Pure Madness!!!! says:

It is most unfortunate that you have no a/c but I am more than certain you can open your windows to get the fresh air/air flow you need. At the airport there are no windows to open, therefore no fresh air/air flow, just stagnant, stale, nasty whatever you want to call it coupled with the bodily smells of the different ethnicities traveling. NOT a good combination at all…

You have to wonder how many of those who are happy with our broken down 50 year old plus terminal are driving around in even 20 year old cars or have 10 year old appliances, 5 year old TVs or even 3 year old perfectly good cellphones that they replace?

    • Toodle-oo says:

Don’t assume that everyone out there throws away perfectly good stuff just because in someone else’s eyes it’s deemed to be ‘old’ .
There’s still plenty of people on this island who remember the practicality and lessons of ‘making do ‘ from people who grew up in the 30′ to the 50′s .

I’d bet anything that 95% of the people calling for a new airport are from the new throw away – I wanna new everything – and now generation and have no clue how broke this place is.

I’m surprised at you ’cause I have a feeling that you are probably in the 5% group.
