Bufkin Receives Inclusion Champion Award

Barbara Bufkin head shot Oct 2014(1)Hamilton USA, the US-based insurance operations of Hamilton Insurance Group, today [Apr 27] announced that Barbara Bufkin, EVP Business Development, has been recognized for her impact on the advancement of women in the insurance industry.

Ms. Bufkin has been awarded the prestigious Inclusion Champion Award by the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation [IICF], a non-profit organization established in 1994 to leverage the collective strengths of the insurance industry by providing grants, volunteer service and leadership to communities throughout the US. The IICF’s Inclusion Champion Award recognizes insurance leaders who are mentors and sponsors to women in the industry.

Ms. Bufkin shares this year’s award with Farmers Insurance Chief Administrative Officer Deborah Aldredge. Both women have been recognized by the IICF for “their community service, commitment to developing talent, and influential roles in advocating, and leading others within their organizations to advocate for the advancement of women in insurance.”

The Inclusion Champion Award will be presented during the IICF’s 2015 Women in Insurance Global Conference which will take place from June 17-19 in New York City at the Sheraton Hotel in Times Square.

Ms. Bufkin joined Hamilton USA in September 2014 from Guy Carpenter & Company where she held the position of Chief Operating Officer, Global Strategic Advisory. Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, she was a member of the executive team at Argo International Holdings.

Ms. Bufkin has also served as director of Swiss Re New Markets and as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Swiss Re subsidiary Facility Insurance Holding Corporation.

Ms. Bufkin attended Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, graduating cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is an alumna of Leadership Texas.

She was nominated to the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame in 2000 and selected to the 2004 Class of Leadership America. In 2012, Ms. Bufkin was chosen as Insurance Woman of the Year by the Association of Professional Insurance Women [APIW].
