Chef’s Kite Promotes ‘Chiko’s Smokey Rub’

April 6, 2015

Chef Michiko Campbell, owner and creator of popular, “Chiko’s Smokey Rub,” recently joined in on the kite-related fun taking place around the island as he flew a kite of his own, designed to promote his popular rub from the sky above.

“Chiko’s Smokey Rub” has proven to be a popular product, with a number of unique flavours helping it to make its way around the world.

Mr. Campbell has been previously recognized for his kite building and flying abilities, with a six foot kite flown over the Johnson & Wales University [JWU] in Miami catching attention from his fellow students and even the school’s dean in 2011.

Later that year, Mr. Campbell made a seven-foot kite decorated with pictures of fellow international students at JWU and images of Bermuda — one in 3D.

His entry won first place in the competition it was entered in, which involved overseas students representing their respective countries; he received a cash prize for his effort.

During last year’s Gilbert Lambe Day celebrations, Mr. Campbell built and flew a 7 foot kite in conjunction with his father-in-law, taking to the skies in order to memorialize his deceased grandfather.
