Photos & Results: Women’s Field Hockey

Women’s Division field hockey action recently continued on the island, with the Ravens notching a shut out, while the Longtails and Swallows earned victories as well.

Ravens 3 – Bluebirds 0

The Ravens won this Women’s Division match 3 – 0 over the Bluebirds. Megan Troake gave the Ravens the lead in the 6th minute with a Field Goal, Isabelle Boonstra doubled the lead with a Field Goal in the 28th minute. Troake would close out the scoring with a Field Goal in the 58th minute for the win.

Longtails 2 – Canaries 1

The Longtails went in front in this game 1 – 0 when they got a 4th minute Field Goal off the stick of Guisti Clarke, Ali Boylan doubled the Longtails lead in the 56th minute when she scored a Field Goal, Rebecca Gibson pulled the Canaries back into the match when she scored a Penalty Corner goal in the 61st minute, but time ran out as the Longtails picked up the 2 – 1 victory.

Swallows 3 – Bluebirds 2

In a Bermuda Hockey Federation Women’s Division make-up match at the National Sports Center, it saw a five goal thriller with the Swallows edging the Bluebirds 3 – 2.

Debbie Sagurs scored from a Penalty Corner in the 10th minute to give the Bluebirds a 1 – 0 lead, the Swallows poured on the pressure for the remainder of the half but could not find the equalizer.

The Bluebirds would go ahead 2 – 0 in the 42nd minute with a Field Goal off the stick of Pier Simons, but two minutes later the Swallows were back in the game when Vanessa Paulos scored a Field Goal.

Liz Stewart drew the Swallows level in the 57th minute with a Field Goal, Julie Hegarty scored what proved to be the winner for the Swallows from a Penalty Corner in the 64th minute.
