Small Fire Extinguished At Devonshire Home

At approximately 7:52am this morning [April 12], the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service [BFRS] responded to a report of a confirmed fire on North Shore Road in Devonshire.

Fire Service spokesperson, Sergeant Jamal Albuoy said, “BFRS responded to the incident with one appliance and four personnel from our Hamilton Station. Prior to our arrival, a portable fire extinguisher was used to extinguish the small fire.

“BFRS personnel removed all the debris, secured the scene by wetting down the area and ventilating the residence. At the time, no one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”

    Out of curiosity, isn’t there a Law where-by every household should have a fire extinguisher? If not, then maybe there needs to be.

    Not sure if there is a law, but even if there was who would enforce it.

      Possibly the owners / tenants of rental units can be a start. This along with “records” of the registered apts. houses that do or don’t have extinguisher relating to the assessment number/s.

    I believe water can be used to extinguish some fires, and that most households already have a supply.
