Cost Of Dr Gibbons Trips: Canada, New Orleans
According to the recent listings on the Government’s travel webpage, Minister of Economic Development Dr Grant Gibbons’ trip to New Orleans last month for the RIMS conference cost $1,325.40; while a separate trip to Canada for a business roadshow cost $4,060.18.
The website lists the New Orleans trip duration from Monday, April 27, 2015 – Wednesday, April 29, 2015 and said, “Minister Gibbons, together with the Minister of Finance, accompanied the Premier to the annual RIMS Conference. While there, Minister Gibbons also had meetings with prospective companies who are interested in having a presence in Bermuda.”

The listing for the trip to Canada had the duration from Monday, May 04, 2015 – Saturday, May 09, 2015, and said: “Minister Gibbons led the BBDA-hosted Canadian Roadshow to Toronto and Calgary, which introduced the benefits of establishing Bermuda-based captive insurance companies and eCommerce entities to executive audiences.”

It’s so nice having a Government that has no problems in showing the general public a traceable expenditure while overseas representing Bermuda and its citizens
The Minister, Dr. Grant Gibbons, is an accomplished legislator and statesman. He is a tireless representative of Bermuda’s best interests.
Someone from the BMA was also in attendance with him. Those numbers don’t seem to be included here.
Some of these numbers are a real stretch. What is he doing? Paying for much of the daily expenses out of his own pockets?
