YAO Baseball: Orioles Defeat The Cubs 3-0
The first YAO Cal Riken League Playoff game saw the Orioles defeat the Cubs 3-0. A strong pitching performance by Liam McCue is all the Orioles needed to keep the Cubs off the board.
McCue pitched 6 innings, striking out 12, no walks and only giving up 4 hits. The Cubs struggled early with walks. Kaelin Paynter came on and matched the McCue, with 9 strikeouts, 2 walks and no hits, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Orioles.
A great effort by Aidan Washington lifted the Braves to a 10-5 win in six innings over the Cardinals in the second YAO Cal Riken League Playoff game.
Washington hit two home runs for the YAO Braves, including one out of the park – a first for this YAO season. Washington went 2-2 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Washington homered in the first and third innings.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the fourth, with seven lead changes.
The top of the first saw the Cardinals take an early lead, 2-0. A Double by Matt Ingleman, bringing home Noah Autmetzine and Tyrese Charves started the inning off.
