Bermuda Team For Pan Am Games Named
The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] today [June 16] officially announced the names of the athletes who will represent Bermuda at the XVII Pan American Games, which are being held from 10 July through 26 July 2015 in Toronto, Canada.
Bermuda will be represented in seven sports:
Athletics:
- Aaron Evans
- Harold “Tre” Houston
- Lamont Marshall
- Tyrone Smith
- Shianne Smith
- Shaquille Dill
- Cheria Morgan [provisional]
Cycling:
- Zoenique Williams
- Sidney “Dominique” Mayho
Equestrian:
- Virginia “Vee” McKey
- Patrick Nisbett
- Jillian Terceira
Gymnastics:
- Sydney Mason
Sailing:
- Cameron Pimentel
- Cecilia “Ceci” Wollmann
Swimming:
- Lisa Blackburn
- Julian Fletcher
Triathlon:
- Flora Duffy
The above athletes, along with Chef-de-Mission Carlos Lee and officials, trainers and support personnel comprise the Bermuda team.
Commenting on the upcoming Commonwealth Games, Judy Simons, President of the BOA said, “Bermuda has assembled a strong team for the Pan Am Games.
“All our athletes have worked extremely hard to get here, and we are proud to have them represent our country at this major festival. This will be Bermuda’s thirteenth Pan Am, and we are looking forward to the competition in Toronto.”
The Pan American Games are the world’s third largest international sporting festival [surpassed only by the Olympics and the Asian Games]. Bermuda has competed in all Pan Am [summer] Games since 1967, taking home a total of 8 medals. Bermuda’s athletes will join approximately 7,000 others from 41 nations at the Toronto Games.
