Middle School Transformation Exhibition
The Department of Education will host an exhibition and performance showcase celebrating the achievements made in this first year of the Middle School Transformation Plan on Thursday, 4 June at CedarBridge Academy.
“Last year, following an audit of all five middle schools, a transformation plan was implemented to improve to equip all teachers and leaders in the middle schools to help students reach their potential,” a spokesperson said.
“The transformation plan represented a fundamental shift from teacher-centered instruction to student-centered learning. The plan required all students to have opportunities for success by providing targeted academic interventions and framing positive student behavior in schools.”
Director of Educational Standards and Administration, Dr. Lou Matthews said, “Department personnel, principals and teachers have worked tirelessly over the year, through rigorous professional development, to improve educational outcomes of all students in the middle school system. As a result of the hard work, we are seeing growth in lesson delivery and student engagement. Schools are reporting success in implementing the new system wide framework.”
Middle school staff and students will highlight their accomplishments on with comprehensive exhibit and performance showcase. The community is invited to come out and support the achievements of our schools. The Expo will begin at 5:30pm at CedarBridge Academy.
The performance showcase will begin at 6:30pm in the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts. The event is free to the general public.
