Shootings In Pembroke: Two People In Custody

June 22, 2015

Two people are in custody following the two shootings in the Ingham’s Vale area in Pembroke, with both incidents involving shots being fired at an apartment on the residential street.

The first shooting in the area occurred on June 17th and the second happened on June 21st. No one was injured in either incident, and the police said while they have two people in custody they are “actively seeking to arrest two others.”

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes said, “The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for witnesses to come forward with information that will assist in ongoing enquiries into the discharge of a firearm in the Ingham’s Vale area of North Shore Road, Pembroke.

“On two occasions in the last week a number of shots have been fired late at night at an apartment on this residential street. No persons have been hurt in these incidents however the persons who have committed these offences are doing so with a blatant disregard for public safety.

“The Bermuda Police Service is particularly concerned that further incidents may occur where innocent people may be injured or worse by criminals seemingly intent on sending someone a message.

“The Bermuda Police Service currently has two persons in custody in relation to these incidents and is actively seeking to arrest two others.

“The Bermuda Police Service is appealing to all right-minded citizens who may know something about these incidents to call the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477 with any information that can assist with identifying the culprits and ensuring the safety of those persons going about their lawful business in this residential area.”

When someone is being held in custody doesn’t mean they are guilty…Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with pertinent information. To bring in convictions of them that have been suspected, (if guilty) of said crimes.
We all must “play our roll” and bringing them responsible for such asinine crimes to court and face the justice they rightfully deserve!

        @ Bettty:
        “Death and Taxes”
As Ben Franklin wrote in a 1789 letter to Baptiste Leroy, “… in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

      • Paul Clarke says:

To be fair to any political party (I’m not a fan of politics in general so I’m not taking anyone’s side), No party can completely eliminate gun violence because the gangsters control the guns and the gangsters have the feuds. One way or another, if a point needs to be made, nothing that the Police or the politicians put in place will deter these types of people from their mission. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m acknowledging the mentality that no one is willing to address which needs to be stamped out by the mothers and fathers of the offenders. The vast majority being young adults who have had a poor upbringing along with those who just choose to be bad.

  4. Pastor Syl says:

I have noted that in reports of people being in custody under suspicion of committing crimes involving firearms, such reports do not also include the information that said firearms have also been acquired. Is this because the police report is incomplete, that the acquisition is to be assumed, or because the firearm is still out in the public domain?

well if they are targeting a particular residence…what do you think would be a good counter measure..?
