Butterfield Finishes 7th: European Championship
Bermuda’s Tyler Butterfield finished the European Ironman Championship in Frankfurt, Germany in 7th place yesterday [July 5] completing the 3.8-kilometer swim, 180-kilometer bike ride and 42.19 kilometer run in a time of 8:26.25.
Butterfield clocked 48:13 on the swim, 4:18:08 on the bike course and 3:15:15 on the run course, with the race seeing competitors facing extremely high levels of heat, with the temperature reported to be some 100F.
2008 Olympic gold medalist Jan Frodeno of Germany won the men’s race, while 2014 world champion Daniela Ryf of Switzerland won the women’s competition .
