Unidentified Man Charged With Passport Offence
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [July 20], a man – whose real identity is not yet known — was charged with multiple counts involving the use of a British Overseas Territory Citizen [BOTC] passport.
The man was remanded into custody until July 29 when he re-appears for mention after being charged with the BOTC passport offenses, which were in the name of Alfred Alva Thompson.
He was charged with possessing a false BOTC passport, using that false passport, and making false declarations. All these charges were laid under the Passport Act.
The charges alleged that the use of the false BOTC passport happened between August 2010 and July 2015, and it had been used to travel.
Crown Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that there is a real Bermudian by that name, but that it is already clear from very early investigations that the real Alfred Alva Thompson has never left Bermuda, and the defendant in question is not Thompson.
