Motorcycle And Pedal Bike Collide, Rider Injured
[Updated] Traffic was diverted away from the Montpelier Road area earlier this evening [July 7] after a collision involving what appeared to be a motorcycle and pedal cycle.
Emergency services responded to the area near the Happy Valley Road junction where the rider of the motorcycle was tended to by EMTs until being transported by an attending ambulance to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The rider of the pedal bike did not appear to have suffered injury and was seen riding away after police concluded their inquiries. Details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update July 8, 4.36pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 7th first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on Montpelier Road in Devonshire near the junction with Happy Valley Road.
“It appears that a motorcyclist and a pedal cyclist collided, with the motorcyclist also colliding with a concrete pillar.
“The motorcyclist, an 18 year old Smith’s parish man and his 18 year old female pillion passenger were injured, taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.
“The 65 year old male pedal cyclist was injured as well; however apparently his injuries did not require hospital treatment.
“Inquiries regarding this collision are underway and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
