Rai Simons Scores In Chesterfield Victory
Bermuda’s Rai Simons scored for Chesterfield FC today [July 28], as they recorded a 3-1 win in a pre-season friendly against Ilkeston.
The young Bermudian signed with the English League One football team earlier this year, with the deal marking the first professional contract for the Bermuda international.
In describing Simons goal, the club’s match report said, “With 21 minutes left to play, the Spireites reinstated their two-goal lead courtesy of Simons who met Gboly Ariyibi’s incisive cross before striking past a helpless Rachoni on the half-volley from around 12 yards.”
Following today’s match Simons tweeted, “Buzzing to score my first goal tonight. Hopefully it’s the first of many.”
