The team leaves Bermuda on Sunday, July 26, 2015, under the capable leadership of Mr. Gladstone Thompson, nation debate coach 2015 and Mrs. Arlene Swan, team manager and adjudicator.

The team will debate eight rounds with four of them being prepared and four being impromptu.

The four prepared topics are as follows: The house would ban zero hour contracts, This house would require defendants in criminal trials to be represented exclusively by public defenders, This house supports academic tracking in primary and secondary education and This house believes that cities with significant immigrant population should actively break up ethnic enclaves.

“Team Bermuda has a very fair draw and has the potential to do well. They face New Zealand, Philippines, Germany, Israel, Sweden, U.A.E. Palestine, and Bahrain in that order. The team is cautiously optimistic about their chances as the variables for determining debate outcomes are extremely complex,” a spokesperson said.

“Team Bermuda, would like to acknowledge, the Ministry of Education, the Bermuda Debate Society led by Ms. Marisa Sharpe and our sponsors for their on-going support.”
