BC Signs Agreement With Savannah College
The Bermuda College, Arts and Science Division, has signed an articulation agreement with Savannah College of Art and Design, popularly known as SCAD [Georgia] that will allow BC students to take classes at the Bermuda College Technical Centre facilities and online that will count toward admission into several Savannah College of Art and Design baccalaureate programmes.
Students who successfully complete the Associate of Arts Degree, Art and Design, will qualify to enter the Savannah College of Art and Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting degree programme; while Bermuda College students who successfully complete their Associate of Arts degree, with a concentration in Art, will qualify to enter the Savannah College of Art and Design, Bachelor in Visual Communication with concentrations in Advertising, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography and Sequential Art.
Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Mark Van Den Hende, said “We are extremely pleased to forge this agreement with Savannah College of Art and Design.” Executive Director of eLearning and Transfer Enrollment, Margaret Kross, and Bermuda College’s Art instructors, Michael Walsh and Dr. Edwin Smith, were given particular credit for having worked diligently over the last six months to link the two colleges.
Savannah was the “ultimate goal” for Bermuda College because they “actively link students with public/private partnerships,” stated Mr. Walsh.
Overall, Savannah offers students the opportunity to” build portfolios while working with global industries”, stated Dr. Van Den Hende.
In addition, “Savannah College will open the door of opportunity for transferring Bermuda College students to work in a variety of settings around the globe as they have campuses in the USA , Hong Kong and France, in addition to e-learning.”
Founded in 1978, SCAD is an independent, non-profit, accredited institution with nearly 12-thousand students from 50 states and more than 100 countries – 23 percent of whom are international.
