Ball Hockey: Vancouver Giants & Tri City Win

The Bermuda Ball Hockey League season resumed at the PCC Hockey Rink with a double header that produced 14 goals.

In the opener the Vancouver Giants jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead at the end of the first period with 2 goals from Christopher Jackson and a single strike from Glen Madore.

The second period drew a blank, but not for a lack of trying, both teams had shots off the post or the goalkeepers making saves in the period, but the third Period produced two goals one for each team. Jacob Amlong pulled a goal back for the Gatineau Olympiques, but Warren Miller restored the Vancouver Giants three goal lead as they won by a 4 – 1 score.

Tri City Americans 5 Sarnia Sting 4

The nightcap saw a seesaw battle with the Tri City Americans edging the Sarnia Sting 5 – 4.

Only two goals were scored in the first period, one for each team, the Tri City Americans took the lead when Joel Neal scored, but the Sarnia Sting would draw level with a goal off the stick of Jeffrey Ingleman.

The two teams scored two goals each in the second period to make the score 3 – 3 with 20 minutes to play. The Sarnia Sting went ahead 2 – 1, with a goal from Andrew Leavy, but two quick goals off the stick of Jeffrey Loper saw the Tri City Americans back in front 3 – 2, but minutes before the end of the period Cory Caouette scored to draw the Sarnie Sting level.

The Tri City Americans would take a 4 – 3 lead late in the third period with goal from Chris Coleman after 17:25, but at the 18:35 Caouette would draw the Sarnia Sting level, just as everyone was preparing for overtime Christopher Merritt popped up and scored the winner for the Tri City Americans at the 19:37 mark leaving the Sarnia Sting only 23 second on the clock to try and get an equalizer that did not happen.
